Origin Story

The MP5-SD | Lab Rats, released in December 2018 with the Welcome to the Danger Zone update, features a hydrographic pattern depicting a mischief of rats. This quirky skin is part of The Blacksite Collection, which is tied to the Danger Zone map. It is generally regarded as a niche, novelty pick from an older, now-locked collection. The design's dark gray and black body is accented with yellowish rats, giving it a distinctive visual identity.

Drop Chance

MP5-SD | Lab Rats is Restricted, a Purple-tier skin in the upper half of the rarity ladder. It can drop as an end-of-match reward from active competitive play on the Blacksite Collection item pool. Map drops follow a weighted rarity system that heavily favors common grades, so Restricted drops are uncommon and Valve doesn't publish per-skin odds. It is the only Restricted skin in the collection. Most copies enter the market through trade-up contracts or direct purchase at a listed seller's price.

The MP5-SD | Lab Rats originates from The Blacksite Collection, which was historically obtainable as a map drop from the Danger Zone / Blacksite map. This collection is no longer part of the active drop pool, meaning new copies do not regularly enter the market.
