Origin Story

The Tec-9 | Blast From the Past was released on December 3, 2020, as part of The Ancient Collection during Operation Broken Fang. Its design features a pale green and beige pattern of ancient tiles, providing a subtle, earthy aesthetic. This hydrographic finish gives the weapon a stone-mosaic appearance, particularly noticeable on the receiver and magazine area in first-person view.

Drop Chance

Tec-9 | Blast From the Past is Mil-Spec, a Blue-tier skin, less common than base collection drops. It has appeared across 8 tournament packages, most recently the Rio 2022 Ancient Souvenir Package, Shanghai 2024 Ancient Souvenir Package, and Stockholm 2021 Ancient Souvenir Package.


Souvenir Packages are awarded to viewers watching live Major matches on the corresponding map, not opened from cases, so Valve doesn't publish per-skin drop odds. Each package contains one item from The Ancient Collection, with rarity tiers drawn on a weighted system that heavily favors common grades, meaning Mil-Spec skins like Blast From the Past are a small fraction of total package contents. • Field-Tested ($5.65): More visible edge wear appears on the muzzle, top of the receiver, and magazine, with some pale tiles beginning to show darker base material at the edges.
• Well-Worn ($17.10): Significant edge and corner wear is present, with larger areas of faded or chipped tiles revealing the base material, and colors shifting to a more muted tone.
• Battle-Scarred ($11.04): The hydrographic layer is heavily faded, especially on high-contact areas, with large portions showing base material and the tiled pattern appearing fragmented and low contrast.

Since these tournaments have concluded, new souvenir packages are no longer being distributed.
