Origin Story

The Gut Knife | Safari Mesh debuted in 2013 as part of The Arms Deal update, introducing one of the game's earliest knife finishes. Its design features a matte, desaturated green and tan camouflage mesh, achieved by spray-painting over mesh fencing and cardboard stencils. This aesthetic gives it a rugged, military-surplus appearance. The finish is widely considered a basic, budget-friendly option for players seeking an entry-level knife. The Safari Mesh finish also appears on several rifles and pistols, though those belong to map collections rather than a single named collection.

Safari Mesh uses the legacy Gut Knife model, introduced with The Arms Deal on August 14, 2013. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Gut Knife | Safari Mesh is obtained as a rare special item from opening CS:GO Weapon Case, CS:GO Weapon Case 2, or CS:GO Weapon Case 3. These original Arms Deal cases are now in the rare drop pool, meaning they drop infrequently. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
