Origin Story

The M249 | Submerged features a custom paint job inspired by teal desert camouflage and aquatic environments. This design gives the heavy machine gun a distinct look within The Anubis Collection, which was released on April 25, 2023, alongside the Anubis update. While the collection is known for its higher-tier AK, AWP, and pistol skins, the Submerged offers a thematic option for the M249. Its visual identity centers on the teal-tinted camo, which is most prominent on the upper receiver and barrel shroud during gameplay. The in-game flavor text, "WE'VE BEEN SET UP! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!", hints at an ambush scenario, complementing the submerged camouflage theme.

Drop Chance

M249 | Submerged is Consumer Grade, the most common drop tier in CS2. It has appeared across 5 tournament packages, most recently the Copenhagen 2024 Anubis Souvenir Package, Paris 2023 Anubis Souvenir Package, and Shanghai 2024 Anubis Souvenir Package.


Souvenir Packages are awarded to viewers watching live Major matches on the corresponding map, not opened from cases, so Valve doesn't publish per-skin drop odds. Each package contains one item from The Anubis Collection, with rarity tiers drawn on a weighted system that heavily favors common grades, meaning Consumer Grade skins like Submerged are a small fraction of total package contents. There are 4 other Consumer Grade skins in the collection competing for the same drop slot. New copies only enter the market when a recipient chooses to open their package, so supply trickles in over time even after the tournament ends.

Since new packages are no longer distributed, the skin is primarily acquired through the secondary market. Buyers can purchase it directly from listings on the Steam Community Market, third-party marketplaces, or various case-opening and skin trading sites.
