Origin Story

The SG 553 | Gator Mesh features a freehand spray-painted design, applied using mesh fabric as a stencil, resulting in a pattern of muted green and khaki tones. This Industrial Grade skin is part of The Mirage Collection, which was released on November 27, 2013, alongside the "Out with the old, in with the new" update. It is generally considered a low-tier, utilitarian skin, often associated with Mirage souvenir drops and older map-themed collections. The Gator Mesh design provides a basic, camouflage-like aesthetic, serving as a functional piece within a themed loadout rather than a high-end collector's item.

Drop Chance

SG 553 | Gator Mesh is Industrial Grade, a common skin tier, one step above Consumer Grade. It has appeared across 13 tournament packages, most recently the Krakow 2017 Mirage Souvenir Package, London 2018 Mirage Souvenir Package, and MLG Columbus 2016 Mirage Souvenir Package.


Souvenir Packages are awarded to viewers watching live Major matches on the corresponding map, not opened from cases, so Valve doesn't publish per-skin drop odds. Each package contains one item from The Mirage Collection, with rarity tiers drawn on a weighted system that heavily favors common grades, meaning Industrial Grade skins like Gator Mesh are a small fraction of total package contents. There are 4 other Industrial Grade skins in the collection competing for the same drop slot. New copies only enter the market when a recipient chooses to open their package, so supply trickles in over time even after the tournament ends.

Float range 0 to 0.6. Exteriors: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred. StatTrak is not available for this skin.

• Minimal Wear ($14.85): Only minor softening appears on edges, with the green and khaki tones remaining very clean.

• Well-Worn ($17.56): Heavier wear appears on most exposed surfaces, with the mesh pattern more interrupted and the overall finish appearing faded.

Gator Mesh uses the legacy SG 553 model, introduced with Out with the old, in with the new on November 27, 2013. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The SG 553 | Gator Mesh is exclusively available as a Souvenir skin, originally obtained from special Mirage Souvenir Packages. These packages, such as the Atlanta 2017 Mirage Souvenir Package or the Katowice 2019 Mirage Souvenir Package, were awarded to viewers during past Major tournaments when matches were played on the Mirage map. Since new packages are no longer distributed, the skin is now acquired by purchasing existing copies on the Steam Community Market, third-party marketplaces, or through case-opening and skin trading sites.
