Origin Story

The Gut Knife | Damascus Steel was introduced on January 8, 2015, as part of the Full Spectrum update, appearing in the Chroma Case. Its blade is forged from two different types of carbon steel, creating a layered, wavy pattern that evokes real-world Damascus blades. This finish gives it a classy metallic look, distinguishing it from more colorful or painted designs. It remains a consistent choice for players who prefer a traditional, understated knife aesthetic.

Gut Knife | Damascus Steel is a knife-tier skin, so standard Valve rarity odds don't apply. Knives drop at a combined rate of approximately 0.26% from supported cases before accounting for which knife type and finish you get. Valve doesn't publish individual knife or phase probabilities.

Skin Condition

Float range 0 to 0.5. Exteriors: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn. StatTrak is available in FN, MW, FT, WW.

• Minimal Wear ($96.90): The visual condition remains very close to Factory New, with only slight dulling or micro-scratches beginning on the cutting edge and tip.
• Field-Tested ($89.05): The metallic sheen is less bright, and edge wear and small surface scratches become visible on the cutting edge, gut hook, and near the tip.
• Well-Worn ($108.16): The knife appears noticeably aged with a darker overall tone and more extensive edge wear, particularly around the gut hook and spine, reducing the contrast of the layered pattern.

Damascus Steel uses the legacy Gut Knife model, introduced with Full Spectrum on January 8, 2015. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Gut Knife | Damascus Steel is obtainable as a rare special item from opening a Chroma Case. Knives are a rare drop from cases, separate from the regular weapon skin pool. Players can also acquire this knife directly from the Steam Community Market, various third-party marketplaces, or case-opening sites. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
