Origin Story

The Survival Knife | Blue Steel, released on November 19, 2019, as part of Operation Shattered Web, is characterized by its dark bluish-gray steel with subtle blue and purple undertones. This finish is achieved through a cold bluing process, resulting in a chemically treated surface rather than a painted one, which gives it a worn, realistic metal appearance. It is often considered a lower-tier, budget classic knife finish, valued for its subtle, tactical look. The knife's visual identity is further defined by the prominent display of the darkened blue-gray metal along the spine and upper flat of the blade, as well as its distinctive clipped profile and sawback-style top edge.

• Minimal Wear ($116.89): The blue-gray patina remains mostly uniform, though faint lighter areas may appear along the blade's tip and edges, often considered the value tier.
• Field-Tested ($85.67): The blade becomes noticeably lighter and more uneven, with significant portions of the blue-gray patina fading to reveal more exposed silvery metal along the cutting edge and spine.
• Well-Worn ($94.00): The blue patina is heavily faded, causing the blade to appear more gray than blue, with large, patchy areas of exposed metal.
• Battle-Scarred ($94.95): The patina is severely degraded, leaving large sections of the blade as light gray or silver, with only hints of blue remaining in recessed areas.

Blue Steel uses the legacy Survival Knife model, introduced with Operation Shattered Web on November 19, 2019. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

The Survival Knife | Blue Steel is primarily obtained as a rare special item drop from the Shattered Web Case. Knives are exceptionally rare drops from cases, with a combined drop rate of approximately 0.26%. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
