Origin Story

The Negev | Prototype, released on March 31, 2020, as part of The Prisma 2 Collection, features a custom paint job in white and red. Its in-game description notes it as a "temporary paint job while its design is finalized," reinforced by flavor text like "v1.2.1, PAT. 3422107." This design suggests an industrial concept rather than a military or camouflage theme. The skin is a Mil-Spec grade item from a collection known for its headline knives and rifles.

Negev | Prototype is Mil-Spec, a Blue-tier skin, less common than base collection drops. From the Prisma 2 Case: approximately 11.42% per opening (roughly 1 in 9). The 79.92% Mil-Spec tier rate is split across 7 Mil-Spec skins in the case. StatTrak versions drop at ~1.14% from the Prisma 2 Case (about 1 in 88). These per-skin odds assume equal weighting within tier — Valve publishes tier rates but doesn't formally confirm even distribution across skins in a tier.

Skin Condition

Float range 0 to 0.7. Exteriors: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred. StatTrak is available in FN, MW, FT, WW, BS.

• Factory New ($1.03): The white and red custom paint is fully intact and crisp, with bright colors and clean edges on the receiver and magazine housing.
• Minimal Wear ($0.37): Light edge wear may begin on protruding parts like the front of the receiver and stock, but the white and red colors remain bright overall.
• Field-Tested ($0.30): More noticeable chipping and scratching appear on edges and high-wear zones, with some of the white base showing darker exposed material beneath.
• Well-Worn ($0.28): White and red areas are significantly chipped and dulled, especially around the mid-section and edges, giving the skin a rougher, battle-used look.
• Battle-Scarred ($0.24): The Negev's body shows heavy wear with extensive paint loss on central panels and edges, though the maximum float of 0.70 prevents the most extreme "missing paint" effects.

Model

Prototype uses the legacy Negev model, introduced with Clearing Out the Cobwebs on March 31, 2020. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Negev | Prototype is primarily acquired by opening the Prisma 2 Case. While this case is no longer in the active drop pool and is now considered a rare legacy item, new supply enters the market from players opening existing cases. Players can also obtain this Mil-Spec skin through trade-up contracts using ten lower-rarity skins from The Prisma 2 Collection. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking. For direct purchase, the skin is readily available on the Steam Community Market, third-party marketplaces, and various case-opening and skin trading sites.
