Origin Story

The Ursus Knife | Blue Steel arrived on August 3, 2018, as part of the "A New Horizon" update, introducing a new wave of knife models and finishes. This particular knife features a blued steel finish, described in-game as having been "cold blued," giving it a desaturated, metallic appearance. Its design provides a subtle, understated look, making it a functional choice for players who prefer a less flashy aesthetic. The Ursus Knife model itself is often considered a mid-tier option, valued for its simple yet distinct pull-out animation.

Ursus Knife | Blue Steel is a knife-tier skin, so standard Valve rarity odds don't apply. Knives drop at a combined rate of approximately 0.26% from supported cases before accounting for which knife type and finish you get. Valve doesn't publish individual knife or phase probabilities.

• Well-Worn ($130.84): The blade appears significantly more desaturated and patchy, showing large areas of duller steel and less consistent bluing, indicating an aged and heavily used look.
• Battle-Scarred ($120.91): The metal is dramatically darker, heavily mottled, and patchy, with much of the original blued uniformity lost, often appearing as almost raw steel with tarnished patches.

Model

Blue Steel uses the legacy Ursus Knife model, introduced with A New Horizon on August 3, 2018. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Ursus Knife | Blue Steel is obtained as a rare special item drop from opening a Horizon Case or a Danger Zone Case. Knives are exceptionally rare drops from these cases, separate from the standard weapon skin pool. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
